User Agreement
Please read these Terms carefully. They form a binding agreement between you and the developer of ShareTaste. Together with the Privacy Policy and the Community Guidelines, they govern your use of the app.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By installing, accessing, or using ShareTaste (the "app"), you agree to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the Community Guidelines. If you do not agree, do not install or use the app.
If you are using the app on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to bind that organization to these Terms.
2. Provider
ShareTaste is provided by:

This information is provided in line with §5 of the German Digital Services Act (DDG, formerly TMG).
3. Eligibility and Age
- You must be at least 13 years old to use the app.
- If you are in the EU or EEA, you must be at least 16 (or the lower digital age of consent permitted by your country's law) to use account, social, sharing, and AI features. Below that age, you may use those features only with verifiable parental consent.
- The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If we learn we have, we will delete it.
- If you are a minor where you live, you may use the app only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian, who accepts these Terms on your behalf.
4. Your Account
ShareTaste uses Apple iCloud (CloudKit) to sign you in. We do not see your Apple ID email or real name unless you choose to share them.
- You are responsible for keeping your device and Apple ID secure.
- Each user may maintain a single profile. Sharing or transferring an account is not permitted.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your profile.
- If we reasonably believe an account is being used in breach of these Terms, we may suspend or terminate it (see Section 18).
5. What ShareTaste Does
ShareTaste helps you create, store, and share recipes, grocery lists, and meal plans. Depending on the features you choose to enable, the app may also:
- Let you publish posts, comments, likes, and follow other users (the "Social Features").
- Let you invite other people to view or edit recipes, grocery lists, and meal plans (the "Sharing Features").
- Send recipe text or images to our backend and to OpenAI for parsing or generation (the "AI Features").
- Search Pexels for cover images for your recipes.
Some features may be available only to subscribers (see Section 13).
6. Your Content and the License You Grant Us
"Your Content" means everything you submit to or create in the app, including profile information, recipes, grocery lists, meal plans, posts, comments, photos, and any text or images you provide for AI processing.
You keep ownership of Your Content.
You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, fully paid-up licence to host, store, copy, transmit, display, adapt, and process Your Content solely as needed to operate, secure, and improve the app, to provide the features you use, and to comply with law. Where you choose to publish Your Content (for example posts, comments, or content you share with other users), you also grant other users of the app the right to view that content within the app, in line with the visibility settings you choose.
This licence ends when you delete the relevant content. Backups, audit logs, and copies that have already reached other users' devices may persist as described in Section 9 of the Privacy Policy.
You confirm that you have all rights necessary to grant this licence and that Your Content does not infringe anyone's rights or break any law.
7. Acceptable Use
You must not use the app, or allow anyone else to use the app, to:
- Post, share, or transmit content that is illegal, fraudulent, defamatory, obscene, or hateful, that incites violence, that depicts or sexualises minors, or that infringes anyone's rights.
- Harass, threaten, impersonate, dox, or stalk any person.
- Spam, scrape, send unsolicited promotions, or run automated activity not authorised by us.
- Attempt to access accounts, data, or shared content that does not belong to you.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise try to derive the source code of the app, except where mandatory law (e.g. §69d–e UrhG in Germany) expressly allows it.
- Bypass, disable, or interfere with security, rate-limiting, moderation, or paywall features.
- Use the AI Features or scanning tools for commercial purposes without our prior written agreement.
More detailed rules for shared and public content are set out in our Community Guidelines.
8. Reporting, Moderation, and Enforcement
Any user can report a post, comment, or profile from inside the app. You can also block or mute other users to remove their content from your feed and prevent further interactions.
- We review reports as quickly as we can, though we cannot guarantee a specific response time.
- Where a sufficient number of credible reports is reached, content may be hidden automatically pending review.
- Depending on the severity, we may take no action, hide content, restrict features, suspend an account, or terminate an account. We may also report unlawful content to authorities where required by law.
- We will not normally explain individual moderation decisions. Where the EU Digital Services Act or other mandatory law gives you a right to a statement of reasons or to appeal, we will provide it.
- To appeal a moderation decision or report a problem, contact us using the address listed in Section 25.
We are not obliged to monitor user content proactively, but we may do so where allowed by law.
9. Sharing With Other Users
You can invite other people to view or edit your recipes, grocery lists, and meal plans through Apple's CloudKit sharing system.
- As the owner of a shared item you control who is invited and what they can do (read, or read and write).
- You can remove participants at any time. Participants can leave a share at any time.
- Once content has been shared, copies may already exist on participants' devices and through Apple's sync system. Removing a participant or deleting the share stops further sync but does not retroactively erase copies that have already reached other devices or backups.
- You are responsible for what you share and with whom. Do not share other people's personal data without a lawful basis.
10. Optional AI Features
If you opt in to AI Features (for example "Parse recipes using AI", recipe suggestions, recipe generation, meal-plan generation, or AI-assisted cover image keywords), the app sends your inputs to a backend service that we operate (a Cloudflare Worker), which forwards them to OpenAI for processing.
- Inputs may include the recipe text, URLs, and images you provide, plus context such as preferred language, units, and dietary tags.
- We send this data only to perform the action you requested, and only when you trigger it.
- Do not include sensitive personal data (for example health, biometric, or financial information about identifiable people) in AI requests.
- AI output can be wrong, incomplete, or biased. You remain responsible for reviewing it before relying on it. Do not treat AI output as medical, dietary, allergy, legal, or professional advice.
- You can opt out of the AI Features at any time in app settings; opting out stops further uploads.
More detail on data flows is in the Privacy Policy.
11. Recipes, Nutrition, and Health
Recipes, ingredient lists, nutrition estimates, and meal-plan suggestions in the app — whether created by you, by other users, or by the AI Features — are general information only. They are not medical, dietary, or allergy advice.
- Always check ingredients yourself for allergens, intolerances, contamination, and freshness.
- Cooking temperatures, times, and food-safety practices in user content or AI output may be wrong. Apply common sense and follow recognised food-safety guidance.
- Consult a qualified professional for any health, nutrition, allergy, or dietary decision, especially for children, pregnant or nursing people, and people with medical conditions.
12. Third-Party Services
ShareTaste relies on the following third-party services. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to your use of them:
- Apple iCloud / CloudKit — account, sync, sharing, and storage.
- OpenAI — AI processing for opted-in features.
- Pexels — stock photo search results used for recipe cover images.
- Cloudflare — hosting and routing of our backend Worker.
More detail, including legal bases and international transfers, is in the Privacy Policy.
13. ShareTaste Plus (Subscription)
Some features may be available only with a paid subscription called ShareTaste Plus. The following terms apply to any subscription you start through the app.
- Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple via the App Store and charged to your Apple ID.
- The current price, billing period, and any introductory offer or free trial are shown to you in the App Store before you confirm the purchase.
- Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- If a free trial is offered and you do not cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, the subscription converts to paid at the price shown.
- You manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID account settings on your device. Removing the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds for unused portions of a subscription are governed by Apple's policies. Your statutory consumer rights, including any rights under EU consumer protection law, are not affected.
- If you are an EU consumer, you have a 14-day right of withdrawal for digital services. By starting to use a paid feature within the withdrawal period, you ask us to begin performance immediately and acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal once performance has begun in full. You retain any statutory right to a refund of unused portions through Apple.
- We may change Plus pricing or features for future billing periods. Material changes will be communicated before they take effect. You can avoid such changes by cancelling before the next renewal.
14. Our Intellectual Property
The app, its name, logo, design, code, prompts, configurations, and all related intellectual property are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by law.
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the app on devices you own or control, solely for personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms and the Apple App Store terms.
This licence does not transfer any ownership and may be revoked if you breach these Terms. Mandatory rights you have under copyright law (for example interoperability under §69e UrhG) are unaffected.
15. Disclaimers
We work hard to keep ShareTaste running well, but the app is provided on an "as available" basis. We do not guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, available in your country, or that data will never be lost or delayed in syncing.
Statutory warranty rights that you have as a consumer under EU and national law (for example under the German Bürgerliches Gesetzbuch) are not waived or limited by these Terms.
16. Limitation of Liability
Our liability is limited as follows. Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law.
- We are fully liable for damages caused by intent or gross negligence; for injury to life, body, or health; under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz); for damages covered by an express warranty we have given; and for any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
- For slightly negligent breach of a material contractual obligation (a so-called Kardinalpflicht — an obligation whose fulfilment is essential to performing the contract and on which you may reasonably rely), our liability is limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract.
- Any other liability for slight negligence is excluded.
- To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages, lost profits, lost data, or business interruption arising from your use of the app.
These limitations also apply for the benefit of our employees, contractors, and agents.
17. Your Responsibility for Misuse
If you use the app in breach of these Terms or applicable law and that causes us loss, damages, or third-party claims (for example over content you posted), you may be required to compensate us to the extent permitted by law. We will tell you about any such claim and give you a reasonable chance to help defend it.
18. Suspension and Termination
You can stop using the app at any time and delete your account from inside the app (Account → Profile → Delete account). Deletion removes your account and content from active systems as described in the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access — temporarily or permanently — if:
- You materially breach these Terms or the Community Guidelines.
- Your continued use creates a legal, security, or safety risk.
- We are required to do so by law or by an order from a competent authority.
- We discontinue the app or a feature; in that case we will give reasonable notice where practical.
Suspension or termination does not affect rights or obligations that survive by their nature, including Sections 6 (license), 11 (health), 14 (IP), 15–17 (disclaimers and liability), 21 (governing law), and 23 (Apple terms).
19. Privacy
Your privacy matters. The Privacy Policy explains what data we process, why, on what legal basis, with whom we share it, and what rights you have, including under the EU GDPR and the California CCPA. The Privacy Policy is part of these Terms by reference.
20. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect new features, legal requirements, or operational changes.
- Material changes will be notified inside the app and, where appropriate, you will be asked to accept them before continuing to use affected features.
- Non-material changes take effect on the "Last updated" date shown at the top of this page.
- If you do not accept a change, you may stop using the app and delete your account.
21. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods.
If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you may bring legal action in the courts of that country in line with EU law.
If you are not a consumer, the exclusive place of jurisdiction is the developer's registered seat in Germany, to the extent permitted by law.
22. EU Online Dispute Resolution
The European Commission provides a platform for online dispute resolution at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
We are not obliged and not willing to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
23. Apple App Store Terms
These Terms are concluded between you and us only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app.
- In the event the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price for the app, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the app.
- Any claims relating to the app — including product liability, failure to conform with applicable law, and consumer-protection or similar claims — are our responsibility, not Apple's, subject to these Terms.
- If a third party claims that the app or your possession and use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, will be responsible for investigation, defence, settlement, and discharge of any such claim.
- You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must comply with applicable third-party terms of agreement (for example wireless data plans) when using the app.
- Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
24. Other
- Severability: if any part of these Terms is held unenforceable, the rest remains in effect, and the unenforceable part will be replaced by an enforceable rule that comes as close as possible to the original intent.
- No waiver: failing to enforce a right does not waive it.
- Assignment: you may not transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may transfer ours to a successor or affiliate, provided your rights are not reduced.
- Entire agreement: these Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Community Guidelines, are the entire agreement between you and us about the app and replace any prior version.
